Have I ever told you what awesome nieces and nephews I have? This month I’m lucky enough to be staying with my parents in Kansas for the month to help out with my sister’s wedding at the end of May. Even better, my brother and sister-in-law and their three kids live pretty much across the street so I get to see them almost every day. And K absolutely adores them. With Memorial Day coming up, I thought it would be fun to come up with a Memorial Day kid party food idea and test it out on my niece and nephews to make sure it was truly kid approved. Most kids I know love chicken nuggets so I decided to make chicken nuggets with red, white, and blue dipping sauces to go with the Memorial Day theme.
I used Tyson Panko Chicken Nuggets that I picked up at Sam’s Club. I was so excited to find them because that’s the kind my family typically buys, but I haven’t seen the panko ones in a while.
And for the dipping sauces, I used ketchup, ranch dressing, and a blueberry BBQ #SummerSauce (recipe included below).
I made the chicken nuggets for my family, and I’ll let the kids show you whether or not these are kid-approved.
It was pretty hilarious trying to keep the nuggets on the plate or even in the kids’ hands long enough for me to take any pictures. I even offered to pay them $1.00 each if they would just hold a chicken nugget out in front of them and give me a good smile. And instead, I got this.
Kids will be kids, and kids like chicken nuggets. I’d be pretty annoyed if someone set out a plate full of striped delight and told me not to eat it. I think this photo was my favorite. She just couldn’t see the chicken nugget in front of her and not eat it. Seriously I have the best family ever.
