DIY PVC Field Goal
I’ve hosted a lot of football parties in the last seven years. From football party printables to soda can field goals and even a DIY football field, one thing they all have in common is my DIY football party decorations. And football party games of course.
Out of all of the football party decorations, this PVC field goal I made for this game day party might be my favorite. It’s so easy to make and the perfect centerpiece, okay maybe end piece, for any football party table.
They are so simple to make with just a few things you can pick up at your local hardware store. The instructions below make two equal sized field goal posts to put on either end of your table.
PVC Field Goal Supplies:
The beauty of this project is that you really only need PVC pieces and paint for this project. Here’s specifically what you’ll need to make the field goals! Ask your local hardware store to cut the PVC pipe for you or get a set of PVC pipe cutters to cut at home!
- (1) 3/4 inch x 10 foot white PVC pipe cut into the following sizes (you’ll have a little bit of extra)
- (4) 12 inch pieces
- (6) 6 inch pieces
- (4) 3/4 inch elbow connectors
- (4) 3/4 inch tee connectors
- Yellow spray paint
- Black spray paint
How to Make Football Goal
I’ve included step by step instructions as well as images below of each step to make it as easy as possible. Want to print out the tutorial – use the instruction card at the bottom of this post.
Step 1 – Put together your PVC pieces.
I’ve included a visual with instructions below to show you how to form the shape of a goal post with the pieces from the supply list. You will only be using two of the tee connectors in this step, not all four.
Step 2 – Spray paint.
Start by spray painting your goal post pieces yellow. Once sprayed painted, stand up and allow to dry.
While the goal posts are drying, spray paint the second tee connectors black and allow to dry.
Step 3 – Add black tees for standing.
Once all of the paint is dry, add the black tees to the bottom of your goal posts to make for easier standing.
The goal posts should stand okay on a flat surface with just the tees. If you’re putting them on a not so flat surface, you can add a coaster or other flat surface to help level the posts for standing.
And now you have perfectly sized field goal posts for your football party!
Here’s a photo of the field goal posts in action. Aren’t they the perfect addition to this fun football party?

How did you keep the paint from dripping to the bottom of post
BritniV says
Spray paint doesn’t drip quite as much as regular paint, just do a few light coats so it’s not dripping.

Just made this, looks great ! Bought all the parts, but the pipe was way too loose for the connectors, and I’m not sure why I needed 4 tee connector.. I only used 2. But otherwise looks great !

Where can I get the P.V.C. In the sized needed for the field goal posts?

This is so clever! Who sees PVC pipe and thinks “I’m going to make a goalpost out of these?” YOU! Because you are amazing. This post is also such a great resource for a Super Bowl party with all of those links! Thanks so much for sharing!
Also, for some reason you haven’t been showing up in my Bloglovin’ feed, but you suddenly are again so yay! I can keep up on your posts better!

I was looking on your site for a Diaper Cake that I could make for my grand daughters baby shower, but I can’t locate where you have it posted. I like the other things you have for a baby shower and plan on playing the games, I was really looking forward to trying to make the cake. Also if you have any other games to share for a baby shower that would be helpful that would be great. I’m in charge of the games and don’t want to mess anything up at this shower it’s for my step grand daughter and my husband’s ex wife will be there with her family (I’m sure with their judging score boards LOL). Thank you..

Melissa, I only have the baby shower games that I think you already found, but just in case, here are the baby shower related posts I have on my blog. Best of luck with the shower! If you need anything else or have any other questions, just let me know.
