Last week was a little tough for me. I’ve just been so busy since we got home from our vacation that I’ve had a really hard time getting everything done that I need to get done. And working out and eating healthy definitely take time, time that I just didn’t have this week. I decided to try out something new this week by ordering my groceries for the week from www.peapod.com to save me a little time. Peapod is a grocery delivery service that allows you to order almost anything that you’d find in in your regular grocery store and have it delivered right to your door.
I ordered all of my groceries for this week from Peapod.com and you guys, it was so easy! All you have to do is go to their website, sign up for an account, and start loading up your online shopping cart. You can browse the online store by aisle, by department, or even just by searching for what you need if you already have a shopping list put together. Searching for eggplant came up with not only fresh eggplant but some delicious looking meals with eggplant in them.
It was so much easier than pushing a cart through small aisles trying to find each individual item, not to mention that I’m normally fighting my toddler to stay in the cart the whole time. It took me about ten minutes to get everything all loaded into my shopping cart, which is 10x less than it would’ve taken me at a regular grocery store. And you might think that the items you could order online would be a little limited, but they’re not. I ordered everything from ice cream to organic grass-fed beef, and it was all available.
Once you’ve finished your shopping, it’s time to checkout. Since Peapod.com is run through Giant, it gives you the option to add your Giant card number to save money on that week’s specials. Awesome right? You’d think that because they’re going to deliver the groceries to you that they wouldn’t let you take advantage of the discounts, but they do. And I saved a ton of money just by adding in my Giant card, definitely enough to cover the small delivery fee.
After you finalize your order, you choose your delivery day and time. Delivery is available as early as the very next morning. There are tons of different time slots and delivery options for you to find something that works for your schedule. And some of the delivery slots that have longer windows actually give you a discount back on the delivery time, making the delivery fee even less! If you choose one of those longer delivery windows, they’ll either call you the day of to give you a 2-hour window (ETA below) or leave your items packaged in a way that they’ll be okay unattended until you get home to pick them up (unattended). Pretty sweet right?
I scheduled my delivery for Friday morning from 8:00-10:00 AM and sure enough right at 8:30AM the green Peapod truck pulled up to my house and a nice delivery man brought the groceries inside for me. After a quick signature, I had everything I need for the next week. There is a small delivery fee that goes along with your order but you guys it’s always less than $10 (exact amount depends on your total) and for me paying someone $10 is definitely worth an hour of my time. I’d much rather be doing something fun with my toddler than screaming at him to stay in the cart.
Have I convinced you that Peapod is worth trying out? Peapod is generously giving one of my readers a $100 gift card to buy your own groceries for a week or more! And for anyone who wants to try it out right now you can use the code PPCJ15 to receive $15 off your first order!
And now onto the food that I’m going to be making with my groceries – week 3’s healthy meal plan. Everything from my favorite spaghetti squash to an artichoke spinach frittata I’ve been dying to try! Make sure to follow me on Instagram (@playpartypin) to see all of the yummy dinners I make with my groceries and maybe an ice cream break or two.
