These Mozzarella Stick beef sliders are one of the best slider recipes you’ll ever try. With a mini burger topped with a cheesy mozzarella stick and homemade marinara sauce, this easy slider recipe is definitely one you’ll want to try or at least a sliders recipe you’ll never forget!
March is one of my favorite seasons of the year and it’s not because my husband is part Irish, and we play these awesome epic St. Patrick’s Day games every year. It actually has nothing to do with St. Patrick’s Day at all. For me, March is all about the madness, and by that I mean fun times catching buzzer-beating basketball games.
I don’t really care about watching sports all that much, there’s just something about the March tournament that sucks me in. Maybe it’s because there are 64+ teams that all have a shot at winning; all they have to do is win a couple of games to become champions. And I love a good underdog story.
Or maybe it’s because it’s something my family can do together without having any real knowledge of the teams beforehand. A good game is a good game whether or not you like the teams, and who doesn’t love to see a buzzer beating last second shot to win for a big upset.
This year I’m lucky enough to have my sister and brother-in-law, Mitch, in town for selection Sunday and the first round of games. And I can’t wait. I’ve actually planned a fun little meal complete with a DIY basketball table and Mitch’s favorite foods and snacks so we can all watch and eat together, including this easy slider recipe.
Easy Sliders Recipe: Mozzarella Stick Sliders
These sliders were actually inspired by Mitch, who is pretty much a big kid at heart. And that works for me because food I make him, my 3-year-old will actually eat. Like these sliders. Mitch tried a burger once with fried mozzarella sticks on top and now orders it every single time he goes back to that restaurant, so I’m hoping he’ll love my take on his favorite.
Ingredients to Make This Easy Slider Recipe
These sliders are really easy to make and only take four ingredients – mini hamburgers, slider buns, Farm Rich Mozzarella Sticks, and your favorite marinara sauce – perfect for feeding both kids and kids at heart. The Mozzarella Sticks on top serve as your cheese, just a breaded version, and add a great source of calcium and protein to the sliders. The Mozzarella Sticks are also delicious on their own if you want to cook up a few extra for game time snacking.
While the original mozzarella stick burger uses fried mozzarella sticks, I prefer to use Farm Rich Mozzarella Sticks that you bake in the oven in this recipe for less grease. They’re made with 100% real mozzarella cheese and breaded and seasoned to perfection, which also means baking them gives you a nice crisp outside and the perfect ooey gooey inside you want in a mozzarella stick. I should know since I spent my high school days trying to become a connoisseur of mozzarella sticks.
How to Make Mozzarella Stick Beef Sliders
Bake your Mozzarella Sticks and while they’re baking, grill up some mini hamburgers and either open a jar or make your own homemade marinara sauce. I used a sped up version of this marinara sauce recipe, and it was fantastic with the sliders. For younger kids who may not like marinara sauce, ketchup works great as well.
The key here is to try and time everything so that as soon as the Mozzarella Sticks are ready to come out of the oven, the sliders are ready to eat. I recommend putting together the sliders and just topping with the hot Mozzarella Sticks as soon as they’re done, so you get that great warm cheesiness and crunch when you bite into the slider.
They’re still great at room temp or a few minutes later if you can’t get them right out of the oven. I’m a mom too, so I understand if you have kids around, getting things on the table and eaten right away may just not happen. I couldn’t tell you the last time I actually ate a hot meal, unless I sneak bites while I am cooking.
These are my new favorite way to eat sliders and will definitely be on our table during March matchups this year. Does your family watch the tournament games together?
