I love almost everything about the holidays but there is one thing I really kind of hate – coming up with Christmas present ideas for myself. Every year my family asks for a list of things that I want and every year I realize that anything I wanted during the year, I already bought. That’s just how I do things, I want something and I buy it. It works all year except during the holidays, and I end up having to come up with last minute Christmas gifts to put on that dreaded list.
This year though, things are different. I’ve been scouring my favorite blogs and websites for ideas for my Christmas list and have actually come up with a couple of things. And last night when I went to Walgreens to pick up some medicine for K to help with his cough I saw this beautiful sign outside the door. If you can’t read it, it says our holiday guide is here. Another great place for me to look for the gift ideas I can never come up with!
Luckily the holiday gift guide was at the very front of the store so I just picked it up and looked through it while I waited at the pharmacy for K’s medicine.
If anyone reading this blog post wants to get me a gift, I’d happily take this Essie glitter nail polish from the gift guide. I almost bought it while I was in the store then decided to hold off and put it on my Christmas wish list. I have to at least give someone a chance to buy me a present.
The holiday gift guide not only had practical ideas like nail polish and makeup but also creative gift ideas like this photo reusable shopping bag. Wouldn’t it be a fun gift for a friend filled with their favorite goodies? And luckily Walgreens actually includes a bunch of goodies on that page that would be great to fill the bag with.
One of the things in the guide was actually a fun section on throwing a great party, which of course had me intrigued. I used the guide to pick out some gourmet snacks to keep me fueled during the upcoming week because it’s going to be insane with all of the parties and fun blog posts I have planned! Check out my favorite Good & Delish cookies I picked up, these caramel and sea salt cookies dipped in chocolate.
And here’s all of my other premium snacks, in what I call my party planning survival kit, a stash of things I keep on hand so I don’t forget to eat ofthe day of the party while I’m getting all the last minute stuff done. It can be whatever foods you want but the key components are a quick meal, lots of water, some protein, salty snacks, sweet snacks, healthy snacks (to counteract the sweet), and of course some ice cream for the day after the party.
Honestly the last thing I am thinking about on party day is eating anything but it’s way more likely to happen when I have yummy snacks nearby. Maybe I’ll put a party day personal chef on my Christmas wish list but for now I’ll make do with my survival kit.
Have you seen the Walgreens holiday gift guide? Do you have any fun and creative gift ideas I should include on my list this year? I’d love to hear your ideas.
Check out these other great party planning ideas.
