This post may contain affiliate links, but I’m only recommending books that are on my own to-read list this year. All book images are from Amazon.com.
I have always been an avid reader, that is up until I had my son two years ago. I even ran a fairly successful book blog and wrote book reviews like 1-2x a week. Now all I read are books like Goodnight Moon and The Cat in the Hat. As one of my personal progress goals for the year, I am determined to start reading again. This list of 15 books to read in 2015 has book recommendations that cover a little of everything – young adult, historical, dramatic, and romance. I like pretty much every genre, so I’ve included an option for whatever mood I’m in. Next time you need a new book to read, check out this list, and I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll enjoy. Some of these books come from best-seller lists, some come from book recommendations my Facebook fans provided, and some come from book recommendations from my friend Rebecca from Living Better Together.
I’ve included a note about why the book is on my list. Click on the book title to be taken to Amazon for more details, a full synopsis, etc.

1- Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult
Why It’s On My List – I love Jodi Picoult! She is probably one of my all-time favorite authors, and it’s been a long time since I’ve read anything of hers. Every one of her books has left me thinking, and I’m excited to pick up her newest.
2 – Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

4 – Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson
Why It’s On My List – Set in Bath, romance, and mysterious strangers – sounds like a good book to read when I need a break from something intense like Leaving Time.
5 – Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall

Why It’s On My List – This was my friend Rebecca’s favorite book of 2014, and she’s convinced me that it’s good enough to put on my list for this year!
8 – The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
Why It’s On My List – This was on the New York Times’ Best Seller list last year, won the Pulitzer Prize, and was recommended by one of my Facebook fans. That’s enough for me to pick it up.
9 – Defending Jacob by William Landay
Why It’s On My List – Drama, legal thriller, and family issues all wrapped up in one book, this one was an easy add to the list.

Why It’s On My List – When I searched for the best books of 2014, this came up on various lists that I trust.
11 – Missing You by Harlan Coben
Why It’s On My List – Conspiracy, internet crimes, love, and all sorts of other craziness. I’m guessing I’ll love this one.
12 – The Collector by Nora Roberts
Why It’s On My List – I occasionally read Nora Roberts’ books when I need a little romantic fluff and this is one of her newer ones.
13 – Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Why It’s On My List – I know this isn’t new, but it’s a classic and the first in the Outlander series that I’ve heard only good things about. It’s time for me to read them.
14 – The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
Why It’s On My List – Another recommendation from Rebecca, perfect for a young adult lit lover like me.
15 – Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler
Why It’s On My List – Why not finish it off with one final recommendation from my friend Rebecca, I read the Amazon synopsis of this one and am in love already.
What’s on your reading list this year?

I’ve read the Outlander series and enjoyed them. However, Calling Me Home was exceptional! I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new book. I’m looking forward to your blogpost at the end of the year when you give the reviews of this book list.

Hey Britni! Great recommends. I have read a couple already so we must have some of the same tastes so I am going to try one or two of these on my next flights! Shared on fb and pinned. Thanks.

I have read some of these books so I think it might be fun to go to a readers blog. My favorite on this list is the first Outlander book.I was very surprised that it wasn,t your average romance story. The pages fly as the hero enters the story. Makes you wish you could find this man. It started me on the road and I just finished the 4th in the series.
The Goldfinch is a very unusual book. There is a lot of intrigue and following the hero, all over the place, makes it move a long. Some parts I just wanted to rip out of the book. I think it could have been better edited. So I was bored in one or 2 places. However, as soon as I was finished I ordered a print of “The Goldfinch”. Yes,it is a real painting.

I love discovering new books and I’m always curious what others are reading. The Same Kind of Different As Me is an excellent story and I loved Gone Girl. I’m not sure if you saw the movie, but read the book first. If you’ve already seen the movie I’m not sure I’d read it because it follows the book pretty closely.

Thanks Shehla, do you have any recommendations for me?

I just finished reading The Darkest Part if the Forest by Holly Black, which I really enjoyed. It’s an urban fantasy all about dark, murderous faeries and a brother and sister that have to save their town.
