The 2017 Mazda CX-9 is a great option for a day trip with the family! With the capacity to seat seven, compact size, and great electronic system – it’s perfect for a short day trip into the city!
I was generously provided with a complimentary 2017 Mazda CX-9 Signature AWD to drive. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.
A couple of weeks ago my family headed to Northern California for my great-grandma’s 90th birthday! Before we went to the big shindig we spent a day exploring San Francisco and all the things to do at Pier 39 there. One of my biggest tips for visiting Pier 39 is to not drive in (parking is expensive!!) but if you do, make sure to drive in a car like the Mazda CX-9. We drove one all weekend long, and it was heaven sent as we were trying to navigate through traffic, fit into tight parking spaces, and pack all seven of us into one compact car.
Why the Mazda CX-9 is Perfect for a Day Trip
#1 – A Third Row in the Mazda CX-9
First off, the 2017 Mazda CX-9 has a third row of seats in the back. I mentioned it before but parking in San Francisco is expensive, like up to $50 a day expensive. Other big cities I’ve been to have similar outrageous parking fees. Nobody wants to drive and pay to park two cars for seven people. Those extra seats in the back are great for smaller adults or kids, or if you’re okay with squishing for a short drive, full-sized adults.
When the back seat is up, the trunk space is a bit limited but still big enough for say an umbrella stroller and a backpack or two. Otherwise, just pack purses and other bags on people’s laps and get comfy for the short drive. If you need more space, fold down the third row for tons of storage space in the trunk!
#2 – Back Up + Parking Camera
Most big cities I’ve been to require some great parallel parking skills or tiny cars that fit into tiny parking spaces. The 2017 Mazda CX-9 isn’t tiny, but it’s on the smaller side of crossover type compact SUVs. And with the help of the fantastic dashboard camera, it makes parking in even the tightest of spots a cinch.
In addition to the backup camera, the Mazda CX-9 also has great safety features like lane keep assist that lets you know when you’ve crossed lanes and blind spot monitoring. Add that to the incredibly sleek design, and this is one car I’d love to drive for years to come.
#3 – It Belongs in the City
I can’t tell you how many people commented on the design of the Mazda CX-9 while I was driving it. Both and interior and exterior of the car are layered in details made for drivers, sophisticated and sleek drivers, who are looking for the top of the line. From the comfortable leather to the signature metallic grey color, everything about this car fits into a city full of professionals, fashionistas, and elites. Every detail is thought through and provided for from sneaky storage spaces to the Bose surround sound system that provides sound you’d never expect inside a car.
