I host a lot of parties during the fall and holiday season that are quickly approaching. And as someone who hosts a lot of parties, I know how much work they can be, especially if you wait and do everything last minute. And no, of course I’ve never done that. My friends at Evite have come up with an awesome party prepping checklist that shows you how to prep for a party from two weeks out to the day of.
While I know your mind probably starts spinning the moment you decide to host a party, really start your planning about two weeks before by setting your menu and planning out your party decorations. Evite has some great tips about what kinds of menus and party decorations make for easier party prep along with some awesome DIY party decor ideas like these DIY screen printed party signs!
1 Week Before the Party
Planning the menu and decorations are the first step. About a week out from your party, you’ll start the actual work. Start by going grocery shopping and stocking your bar with all of the things you planned in that delicious menu of yours. Evite shares some great tips for ways to stock your bar to make sure that everyone has something to drink. This strawberry citrus mocktail is a great choice for a yummy non-alcoholic drink!
Once your food is taken care of, start decluttering your house. Go through your mail pile, your fridge, and anywhere else that guests might see and question why there’s a stack of stuff just sitting there. Believe me, this will take longer than you think so starting a week out is perfect and necessary.
Last but not least, make sure to plan out your activities and a party playlist in that same one week before the party timeframe. If you like games, check out these fall party games, Christmas party games, or even generic party games that are perfect for large groups! And as Evite says, make sure to include a variety of music and activities to keep everyone happy.
2 Days Before the Party
Clean, clean, clean! Deep cleaning before a party is essential and Scotch-Brite Products can make it easier! If your party is an outdoor one, use this outdoor entertaining cleaning checklist to make sure you don’t miss something silly like cleaning your grill!
Once you’re done cleaning, figure out what dishes you’re going to use. If you’re having a dinner party, this list of top dinner party essentials can help make the decisions a little easier.
And last but not least, pick out your outfit including shoes and jewelry! I love Evite’s advice of doing this two days before so that if something is stained or wrinkled that you really love, you’ll have time to get it ready for the big day!
1 Day Before
It’s almost the big day and going to be a busy one. You’ve planned out everything and now it’s time to get in the trenches and get the work done. Move your furniture around to where it needs to be, decorate the space, and make whatever food you can that will be okay made ahead of time. And don’t forget to wash all of the dishes you picked out using Scotch-Brite Extreme-Scrub Sponges so that they’re ready to be plated tomorrow.
Day Of the Party
The day has finally arrived and it’s time to get your party setup. Finish any food, set your tables, put out your food, and set the mood with good lighting and the pre-prepared playlist. Then just sit back and enjoy the amazing party you’ve just planned.
