Meet This Mormon

All of those beautiful faces above? Those bloggers, me included, all belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, or as you may know it, “The Mormon Church.” We are all proud to be part of the church and proud of this part of our individual lives! I am so excited to be teaming up with these 65+ incredible women to extend an invitation to you to see the new movie, Meet the Mormons that is in select theaters starting today.This film is not a “we want you to join our church” film; it is simply a film designed and produced to uplift and inspire you as you see glimpses into the lives of six Mormons who have followed promptings to follow Christ more fully in their lives. We hope you take the opportunity to enjoy this film and that your hearts are made light as you see and feel the goodness that comes from following our Christ and Savior. All proceeds from the film will be donated to The American Red Cross, so not only will you be uplifted and inspired, your money will be going to an amazing charity!

We also would like to take a moment to share our personal testimonies, stories of our own personal conversions, and our own stories of how following our Savior Jesus Christ has changed our lives. It takes great bravery for us to open our hearts and our mouths to share with you such a tender and personal part of who we are.

I was born into the most amazing LDS family, not amazing because we’re perfect in all that we do but amazing because of how much we all love each other. One of the most important principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints is that families are forever. That means no “til death do us part,” it means that once we die, we are still a family in heaven. For me, this is everything. I have a little sister who passed away when she was just barely 18 months old and I was four. There isn’t a day that goes by that she’s not on my mind in one way or another. And there have been so many times that I know she’s watching and keeping tabs on our family, just waiting for that day we will all be one happy family again. And as a mom myself now, I can’t imagine not having K as part of my family for time and all eternity.

I also know that while I have the most amazing family here on earth, I also have the most amazing Heavenly family as well. My Heavenly Father knows me even better than my actual father. He knows what I need even when I don’t, He knows how to answer my prayers when I don’t even know what I’m praying for, and He knows how to comfort me when I need it the most. I know that I am a child of God because I have felt Him in my life over and over again. And no matter how far away I am or how many times I screw up, I can always turn to my Heavenly Father and my brother Jesus Christ, and they’ll open their arms to welcome me home, again and again.

To finish, I’ll leave you with the words to one of my favorite songs.

I was sitting on a southbound plane,

When the man in the next seat over

He talked about Saturn’s rings

In a tiny little airplane window

With people sleeping all around

we just expect this world to be

And when the flight attendant passed me by

I threw away my magazine.

It passes all my understanding,

That the Lord knows both our names.

And that He made this world for everyone

That was sitting on that plane.

And in spite of all of man’s distractions,

He offers us His peace.

It passes all my understanding.

I may not understand it, but I know it’s true. I am a child of God, and you are too. Every single one of you. And if you don’t take anything else away from reading this post, just know that you have a Heavenly Father, and that He knows and loves you.

Thank you for sharing, Britni! How did you get to be a part of this big giant group? I would have loved to post, too! My husband and I are planning on going to see this tomorrow!
