Thanks so much to Overstock™ for providing me with the bulk of the decorations for this post. While I may have received the products for free, the opinions, content, and idea are all 100% honest and my own! This post also contains affiliate links.
Most years we go out of town for the holidays, so I kind of skip the whole Christmas decorating thing. Not this year. I decided to just skip the fall/Thanksgiving decorations and go straight for Christmas. I know it’s early, but now I’m done until January. And this year, I decided to go all out with merry and bright Christmas decorations.
Think bright colors and lots of glitter. And because my toddler K loves Sven from FROZEN, I decided to sprinkle reindeers throughout the design. Fun right?
Since I like to change things up just a little every year, I like to buy basic Christmas decorations like this pre-lit garland, wreath, and Christmas tree from Overstock.com. Then I can just keep using those, what I’m going to call neutral pieces, over and over again no matter what theme I’m going for that year.
Once inside, guests are greeted with this fun reindeer wall decal. Okay, who am I kidding, this one is really for K. He loves peeling the pieces off and sticking them back on, kind of like this fun Olaf window decal my friend Randi made.
Now onto the focal point of the room — the mantel. Or mantle, however you feel like spelling it. To pull off the merry and bright theme on my mantel, I started with a pre-lit garland then added in brightly colored glitter ornaments, an ornament tree, a red advent calendar, a miniature white stag (aka reindeer), and a set of wood NOEL letters that I painted with pink glitter.
To finish the mantel, I hung up gorgeous turquoise chevron stockings from Overstock.com. You can’t tell from this picture, but they are just perfect for us. They match both my merry and bright theme and the colors/patterns we have throughout our living room! I may just leave them up all year round.
On one side of the mantel is the chair that we spent months picking out. I love it. And I love it even more with the merry & bright and reindeer pillows on it. I mean, isn’t this pillow the best? Just the right amount of glitz without being over the top.
And on of the other side of the mantel, Santa’s stash on top of our new side table. I love the fun teal pop of color, and I love having another surface in the living room to decorate! Oh and I’m pretty sure I’m addicted to power tools after putting it together, well if you count an electric screwdriver as a power tool that is.
On top of the table, I just set out some cookies for Santa and this fun wire bell tree. I was pretty surprised that K went for the bells instead of the cookies, but hey, it is pretty great.
And underneath the table, a reindeer bucket with a comfy blanket in case Santa needs a nap, and some metal bells from Overstock.com that remind me of the one the little boy gets in The Polar Express.
Last but not least, I finished off the mantel with some presents wrapped up in brightly colored wrapping paper including my favorite colorful dot paper from Overstock.com.
Moving on to the tree, I picked out this pre-lit Christmas tree in particular because I knew I wanted something with white lights to offset the brightly colored ornaments and decorations. Once I found the matching pre-lit wreath and garland, I was sold. I just used more of the colored ornaments on the tree, this silver glitter tree skirt, and more of The Polar Express bells. And you can’t have a tree without presents, so I wrapped up the three gifts that I bought so far.
Isn’t it gorgeous? We’ll see how long it lasts with an 18-month old ruling the house.
