Each week I teach a lesson to a group of 12-13 year old young women at church using the Come Follow Me program. For the month of June, the theme is Priesthood and this week we talked about what the priesthood is. I made these cute printable priesthood lesson handouts to help the girls remember our priesthood object lesson!
Teaching the priesthood to young women is tough, but I found this great object lesson using an umbrella that hopefully helped to understand it a little better. The idea is that everyone under an umbrella is still protected from the rain even though only one person is holding it, kind of like everyone is blessed by the priesthood even if they aren’t the ones actually holding it. It really made a lot of sense to me, and I hope it helped the girls get a more visualize understanding as well.
To go along with the object lesson, I made these little handouts for the girls. I originally tried to find umbrellas to put with the handouts, but I couldn’t find them cheap enough. So, instead of umbrellas I went to Target and picked out three nail polish colors that fit the lesson – rainstorm, fuschia power, and don’t get wet (or something like that). I just printed out the free printable handouts below, cut them out with a 1 inch round punch (affiliate link), punched a hole in the top, and attached to the nail polish with a little bit of coloring baking twine.
I created these in three different colors that matched my nail polishes – dark blue, bright blue, and hot pink. If you would like them in a different color, email me and I can make additional colors for you. Or if you want one of the quotes in a different color (because there are three different quotes), I can do that as well. Hope this helps!
