red and orange food coloring
Gently fold the rice crispy cereal into the melted marshmallows.
12 oz box rice crispy cereal
Spray a 9×13 pan with non stick cooking spray or line with parchment paper.
Pour out the rice crispy into the prepared 9×13 pan. Flatten the top of the rice crispy after you pour it in. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
Melt the green candy melts in a medium microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments until melted, stirring between increments.
1 cup green candy melts
Place the melted candy melts in a zipper top bag and cut the tip off one of the corners (or use a piping bag).
To make the stems for the carrots, lay out a piece of parchment paper onto a baking sheet. Cut a small hole in the corner of the zipper top bag with melted green candy and pipe out 12 stems in a v shape. place the baking sheet into the fridge for 10 minutes to harden.
Lay out a piece of parchment paper onto the counter. Take the rice krispy treats out of the fridge and gently flip them out onto the parchment paper. Cut the rice crispy in half long ways. Then cut each half diagonally until you have six equal triangle pieces that look like a carrot shape.
Melt the orange candy melts in a microwave safe bowl. Again microwave in 30 second increments then stir. Put the melted orange candy into a zipper top bag and cut a small hole in the bag.
1 cup orange candy melts
Drizzle the melted candy over the carrots then immediately add sprinkles while the chocolate is soft.
orange sprinkles
Place a dot of orange candy melt at the top of the carrot and gently put on the stem so it sticks to the carrot.
Let the rice krispie carrots sit for a few minutes then serve!
Notes
Don’t press down on the rice krispy treats too hard when you’re putting them in the pan. Pressing them too tightly together is a really easy way to end up with hard rice krispy treats!Add a few more drops of food coloring once you get to the color you want. Once you mix it with the cereal, the color fades slightly as it mixes with the light colored rice krispies.Cut each half into thirds than cut each of those thirds in half to get even sized carrot rice krispy treats! It’s easier to break it down like that than to cut them by hand evenly!Store any leftovers (like there will be any) in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap for up to three days. They’ll likely get eaten before then, but they are freshest when enjoyed within a few days.Marshmallow substitutions:
Use 40 regular marshmallows (10oz) or 6 cups of mini marshmallows.
