Make this adorable popsicle stick scarecrow craft in minutes using popsicle sticks, paper, yarn, and a black marker! They’re simple to make and such a cute fall craft that kids will love to make to celebrate the fall season!
Start by gluing seven of the popsicle sticks together all in one line. You can do this with hot glue or like I mentioned above, if you have time to allow them to dry, do it with another type of glue. Cut one popsicle stick in half and glue it to the back of the other popsicle sticks, straight across, for support.
9 4.5" popsicle sticks
Once the glue has dried, draw a diagonal slant from the upper right to the lower left corner.
1 bottle craft paint
Once the line is drawn, paint the line and all of the popsicle sticks above the line orange (or whatever color they choose). And paint the single popsicle stick leftover orange as well.
Once the paint has dried on both popsicle sticks, glue the popsicle sticks together with the single popsicle stick over the line you drew diagonally to create the hat brim.
Cut out two circles of white paper and then two circles of black paper, above half the size of the white paper.
1 piece white construction paper, 1 piece black construction paper
Glue the eyes together with the smaller black circle right in the middle of the white one to create the eyes. Then glue onto the popsicle sticks to be eyes.
For the nose, cut a small triangle out of the orange paper and glue it onto the popsicle sticks right underneath the eyes.
1 piece orange construction paper
Finish the face by using a black marker to draw a smile on the scarecrow right underneath the nose.
To finish the scarecrow, fold the yarn and cut into pieces to make the scarecrow’s hair. Glue it to the back of the scarecrow and shape it however you want the scarecrow's hair.
1 piece yarn
Notes
If you’re doing this with a class or for a fall festival, I recommend making zipper top bags full of the simple supplies kids will need to make the craft (popsicle sticks, pieces of paper, and eyes (if using them). Then have craft equipment like scissors, glue, and paint that everyone shares. This helps to make sure they have all of the starting pieces they need and avoids someone totally messing up the craft because they lost their yarn or only painted four popsicle sticks.
