There is more to Chuck E. Cheese’s than pizza and games. These awesome reasons for visiting Chuck E. Cheese’s will bring you back time and time again!
I’ll let you in on a secret. We have a Chuck E. Cheese’s right across the street from our house. And before K was in preschool, we went there once a week. Now that he’s in preschool, it’s a little less often but we’re there pretty much every time it rains. And amazingly enough, even when it rains our Chuck E. Cheese’s is almost always dead. That’s the beauty of living in a town where everyone works too much I guess.
I’m so excited to partner with Chuck E. Cheese’s for this post today to tell you all about why we love it and make it our rainy day play spot! While this post is sponsored, all opinions are 100% honest and my own. I started going to Chuck E. Cheese’s long before this post.
I love Chuck E. Cheese’s almost as much as my son does, just not for the same reasons. These are the six reasons I love Chuck E. Cheese’s AND why you should go visit right now. Or maybe not right now, but soon. And then return again and again.
6 Reasons to Visit Chuck E. Cheese’s Right Now
#1 – The games promote hand-eye-coordination
This is a big one for me. My dad was actually the one who first suggested we go to Chuck E. Cheese’s when my son was just over 18 months old. He was already walking and moving all over the place but still working on the little coordination type things. Chuck E. Cheese’s games are the perfect way to help young kids with hand-eye coordination. You’d be surprised how tough it is to put a token in a slot when you’re still learning how to grip things with your itty bitty hands. And the whack a frog game, that’s just straight hand-eye coordination and reflexes being practiced in a fun way.
#2 – Crowds teach patience and sharing
We’ve probably all been to Chuck E. Cheese’s on the weekend or for a birthday party when it can get a little busy. But here’s the bonus of busy, it helps teach kids patience as they’re waiting for their turn and sharing as they finish a turn and have to let someone else try. This is especially important for our family where K is the only child and doesn’t really have to take turns playing with his toys at home. And it’s really hard for him to give up his favorite horse ride at Chuck E. Cheese’s but when there are other kids waiting, he knows he has to do it. And he does.
#3 – You go home with smiling pictures of your kids
Don’t think for a minute that I’m talking about with a real camera. That’s still not going to happen. I’m talking about all of the rides and games at Chuck E. Cheese’s that have built in cameras that actually print out the picture for you in one way or another. Three of K’s favorite rides are one where he sits in a car and takes a picture with Chuck E., one that sketches your photo, and one that takes a picture and prints it out on these fun little ID cards. He loves smiling big and seeing what his pictures look like. And I have a whole box full of cute ID cards, sketches (some with me even!), and Chuck E. Cheese’s smiles.
#4 – Kids love the pizza
It may not be the best pizza you’ll ever eat in your lifetime but Chuck E. Cheese’s pizza is surprisingly good. And if you can go on a weekday for lunchtime, they have a $5.99 all-you-can-eat buffet that includes a ton of types of pizza, dessert pizzas, and more. You can learn more about monthly promotions on the official Chuck E. Cheese’s Facebook page or by following along on Twitter or Instagram.
And if you join the Chuck E-Club you can get awesome coupons sent directly to your email each month for discounts on pizza, other food, tokens, etc. I’ll often use one of the token coupons to get like 100 tokens for $20 and then just save up those tokens for visits throughout the month.
#5 – It’s a great place to reward kids
One of the coolest things about Chuck E. Cheese’s that I don’t think most people know is that they actually offer a ton of free printable reward calendars on their site. Basically the idea is that you print out a calendar and work on that specific thing with your kids (e.g., getting dressed, eating good food, homework first) for two weeks and once they’ve done that thing for two weeks, the kids can bring the calendar in and exchange it for 10 free tokens (with food purchase).
I love that they offer so many different options from typical ones like keeping your room clean to hilarious ones like no nose picking. And you’re probably going to buy food anyway, so why not encourage your kids to do their chores and get 10 free tokens out of it. It’s a great way to start teaching about responsibilities and rewards, and a little simpler than my toddler chore chart.
#6 – There’s always something new and fun going on
Chuck E. Cheese’s constantly has new things going on. One month we went in and every kid got a free blow-up ball with the purchase of a kid’s drink. And earlier this month we went in and played Mission: Find the Fun, an app dictated scavenger hunt featuring your kids’ favorite Paw Patrol characters. There’s seriously always something different going on, so each visit can be more than just playing the same games and eating the same pizza over and over again.
In fact, over Memorial Day weekend (May 27-30), there’s a huge birthday celebration going on for Helen Henny! If you aren’t familiar with Helen Henny, she’s the hen in Chuck E. Cheese’s band and has a fun story of her own!
Helen grew up in New York City and fell in love with music when she was just a little chick, and she’s been singing every since. Even though Helen loves to sing, she also loves to play games and actually met Chuck E. while playing a game of pong (remember pong??), and when she beat him Chuck E. invited Helen to become a member of the band on the spot.
This weekend head to your local Chuck E. Cheese’s to celebrate Helen’s birthday at Chuck E. Cheese’s by enjoying her favorite flavor of Dippin’ Dots (cookies’n’cream) for 50% off, $2 off Helen Henny plush dolls, and a little surprise coloring sheet with five free tokens for each guest when you go home. Your kids can even meet Helen in person, play some of her favorite games, and maybe even have a shot in the ticket blaster to win tickets and fun prizes. It’s just one of the fun promotions that Chuck E. Cheese’s is constantly running and one of the reasons we return over and over again.
