Godiva-disclosure

It’s been just over a month since my little sister got married, and it took me just about that long to edit all of the photos from her wildflower wedding reception.

She wanted a bohemian wedding reception full of wildflowers, natural elements, and bright colors. And that’s exactly what she got along, with a bit of golden magic. These bohemian wedding ideas are perfect for any bride who is a bit adventurous, whimsical, and fun-loving.

Bohemian Wedding Decorations

The wedding decorations were actually really simple. We rented farmhouse tables and matching chairs, a gazebo, and the coolest tables made out of large spools.

I think the spools were my favorite part of everything, just wished I lived closer so I could actually use them for one of my parties. Above the main table area, my brother and sister strung lights that sparkled like fairy dust as the sun set into the magical golden hour.

On the tables, we simply added a light colored table runner and allowed the wood tables to speak for themselves. For centerpieces, we placed three different size wood cookies, mason jars, wildflowers, and an adventurous photo of the bride and groom.

I love how the use of the wildflowers throughout the reception tied every little piece together.

In the back of the reception the groom and his dad made a wall out of pallets where we hung more pictures of the bride and groom and geometric planters with wildflowers.

The pallet wall turned out to be a fantastic way to showcase bridal, engagement, and wedding photos without having any actual wall space.

Bohemian Wedding Food

The food itself wasn’t particularly bohemian, but it was delicious. We set up a couple of different tables with food and drinks — bundt cakes, make your own ice cream sandwich bars, chips and salsa, a fresh fruit juice bar, a popcorn bar, and last but not least, a s’mores bar with a small fire pit. I’ve been to a lot of weddings and this was definitely had some of the best treats I’ve ever tried.

Those bundt cakes were seriously to die for. And have you ever tried a s’more with Godiva truffles? Almost sinful.

Bohemian Wedding Games & Activities

My family has a tradition of going all out on the activities at wedding receptions and this one was no different. We rented a moon bounce to keep the kids occupied, set up a life-size Jenga game (on another one of those great spools), rented a photo booth for silly photos, and my sister even serenaded my parents.

The other two things we did were kind of a fun tradition that my dad came up with years ago. First, my dad put together a video that was constantly looping for people to watch during the reception. Everyone has seen a slideshow at a wedding before but instead of just doing a video, my dad created a slideshow scavenger hunt to go along with it.

Guests could watch the slideshow and during the slideshow answer questions about the newlyweds. Anyone who completed the scavenger hunt was entered into a raffle to win some yummy prizes like their choice of Godiva Truffles, Truffle Flights, or chocolate boxes.

I thought it was a really fun way for guests who might not know the groom (since he’s not local) as well to get to know him and their love story a bit better.

The final activity of the night and definitely my favorite was another longstanding Newton tradition. All five of us kids are now married and at four of the five receptions, we’ve played the Newlywed Game where the husband answers a question while the wife is out of the room and the wife then answers it when she returns, trying to figure out what he would’ve said.

The previously married couple hosts the game and the newlyweds play along with three other couples of varying relationship lengths. And depending on the couples you have playing, it’s hilarious.

My younger brother and sister-in-law took the newlywed crown and as the victors, they won a gift card for dinner and a box full of Godiva chocolate for a little dessert. I picked out some of my Godiva favorites like the Nut Lovers Truffle Flight and the Dark Decadence Truffle Flight. I’ll admit, I was a little sad to be handing it over to the winners.

Bohemian Wedding Favors

My sister had two different wedding favors for all of her guests. The first were wildflower seeds that people could take home to plant and “watch love grow,” once it was planted. And the second was the same personalized two-piece Godiva chocolate boxes that we used for my sister’s bridal shower.

I chose to order ones with the bride and groom’s name and wedding date on them, but you could easily do a quote like “love is sweet,” or “Thanks for making today so sweet,” on them as well. That’s the beauty of the personalized wedding favors, you can really make them work for whatever you want.

I love the bohemian wedding theme, I’m so non-traditional. The wall out of pallets and pictures is so creative and outside of the box. I’m a fan of jumbo Jenga as well.
