Make reading fun with these cute book bingo cards. They’re perfect for a book club, girls’ night, or as an activity to do with kids over the summer break. Just print the cards, fill them out, and start reading!

TBR Bingo Cards

This year, we are making bingo cards instead of writing to-do lists and traditional bucket lists. These book bingo cards are a fun upgrade to a traditional TBR (to-be-read). Not only are they more fun to create but they come with the added satisfaction of earning a bingo when you mark them off.

During our last book retreat, I passed out blank book bingo cards, and we spent hours sitting around, snacking on monster cookie balls, and discussing all our favorite books. Everyone picked the ones they were interested in and added them to their bingo cards to take home!

While it can be fun to sit and talk about books, you can just as easily fill out a book bingo card on your own. It’s a fun way to swap out a boring TBR for something more rewarding.

If you don’t want to fill out a blank bingo card with a specific list of books to read, I also have ones that are filled in with different types of books for every genre of books I could think of that you can grab in my shop here! So if you just want to use it to give you an idea of a type of book when you can’t choose, these are also perfect for that!

14 Different Book Bingo Templates

This book bingo card printable comes with a variety of variations, so you can pick which one works best for you. You can pick from any of the following themes:

  • Non-fiction
  • Fiction lovers
  • Romance
  • Romantasy
  • General books (great for kids)
  • Historical fiction
  • Reader’s favorites (award winners, etc.)

Each theme has both a white card and a colored one that is completely blank to fill in.

If you don’t have a specific list of books you want to read, then you can use the prompt bingo cards. Each space is filled in with book prompts that are specific to the theme. For example, the fiction prompt card includes spaces for debut novel and a book over 500 pages. If you want ones that are already filled in to use, I have those in a package in my shop.

Make it a fill out your book bingo card night

When we used these at the book retreat, we gave everyone a blank generic book bingo card and a pen. Then we talked about the best books we all read in the past year, our favorites of all time, books that were coming out this year, and even books being turned into movies and TV shows this year.

Any books that seemed interesting to me went on my book bingo card (and my Goodreads and Libby account). I put them on my card in random order, but I know my friend Meg for example put hers in order of what she was planning to read next t make getting a quick bingo a little easier!

Also, I did one book per book square but you could also do an entire series if you want. For example, if you’re planning to read the Crescent City series to be ready for the new ACOTAR book in October, you could just put Crescent City in one square (or make them each their own book).

If you want to do it on your own, that’s just as fun. If you’re like me, your TBR is a collection of saved BookToks, not a written list. It’s always fun to scroll through and remember what people are saying about books, then add them to your bingo card.

Then once you read the book, you cross it off. Treat yourself once you get a bingo or don’t and just send a picture to friends and celebrate all your reading together!

How to do use these with kids

These bingo cards are a great way to get kids to read during the summer break or during the year. Work together to fill out a blank card with books that are appropriate for their age level.

Then decide together what the incentive is for getting a bingo or a blackout.

This can be whatever you want, from a piece of candy for a bingo to a yes day for a blackout. It’s a great tool to use with kids at any age to get them more interested in reading.

Prize ideas

If you’re like me, you don’t need any more reasons to read, so the prizes don’t have to be a motivator. They certainly can be if you’re trying to get kids to read more or see who can bingo first in your book club. However you choose to do it, here are a variety of book-related prizes.

  • Book pillow – makes reading in bed so much more comfortable. Works great as a book club prize or a personal blackout gift.
  • Bookshelf decor – this could be general like this TBR sign or book specific like a Suriel tea ghost.
  • Bookish gifts – I have an entire collection of my favorites that would make great prizes!
  • Book patches – not all prizes need to be big as long as it makes you happy, like these cute book stickers, it’s great.
  • Skip the prizes altogether and instead pick an incentive like the winner gets to pick the next book for the book club. Or do the opposite and the losers have to do a consequence, like go to dinner dressed as their favorite character.

  • Reading activities – tons of fun ways to make reading even more fun!
  • Book exchange game – this is a fun twist on a traditional book exchange.
  • Bookish game – this one is full of higher or lower bookish trivia! It’s a book themed version of our viral Christmas higher or lower trivia game.
