How to Prioritize with BIC 4-Color Pen

In the past, I’ve shown you how I keep my blog tasks organized with my daily and monthly checklists. Today I’m going to take it one step further and show you how I keep all of my tasks (personal, blog, family, etc.) prioritized with a to-do list that I color code with the awesome BIC® 4-Color™pen.

Love this idea for prioritizing your to-do list with different colors from playpartyplan.com #prioritizing #organizing #ip

I know there are all sorts of online to-do lists and apps on your phone that you can use but I personally love writing things down and physically checking off the little box once that task is complete. There is just something gratifying about seeing the check, like it signifies you actually completed something.

You can see that my to-do list has four different colors. Those colors are coordinated with the level of priority those tasks have. A long time ago I read a Stephen Covey book that talked about understanding the urgency and importance of each task on your to-do list and prioritizing your list based on those qualities. I’ve taken that idea and changed it slightly to create four categories of prioritizing – important and urgent (has to be done in the next three days), important and semi-urgent (has to be done by a certain date but not right away), important and not urgent, and not important or urgent (so things I’ll do if I have free time). I’ve assigned each of those priorities a color and use those colors to write down the items on my to-do list.

I love how I can take a quick glance at my notebook and immediately see which things I should be working on now. I used to do this with different color highlighters but then I saw a BIC® 4-Color™pen at Staples and I knew it would be perfect for this. Now I only have to carry 4 Inseparable Colors in 1 Pen  with me instead of four separate pens and I can just put the pen right in the spiral part of my notebook. It’s also perfect because when I have new things come up, I can just add them to my list in the appropriate color rather than having to rewrite the list to keep my high priority items at the top.

Just like my to-do list and its four different priority levels, the BIC® 4-Color™pen has four colors all with their own personalities, perfect for however you’re feeling at any given moment. Red is the type A personality who demands everything be perfect, on-time, and correct. Blue likes himself and knows that he’s important. Black doesn’t understand why blue is so great and thinks he’s just as good as blue, and green is a foodie and jealous of everyone else. I’m a little bit red, a little bit blue, and a little bit black. Let’s face it, I’m a little bit of everything really, four inseparable personalities all stuck in my one. I love these clever videos that BIC® has created to show you the four personalities. See if you can guess what’s happening before it’s revealed at the end of the video.

You can follow BIC® 4-Color™pen on Facebook and Twitter to see more fun content and follow adventures of the four colors including daily updates on Twitter from the guys in spandex suits. If you want a pen of your own, you can purchase a BIC® 4-Color™pen on Staples or Amazon.
