This hilarious hungry hungry bunnies Easter game is inspired by the game Hungry Hungry Hippos and the most fun you’ll have this Easter season! It’s chaotic, competitive, and so much fun!

I’ve been in charge of Easter games for our family Easter celebrations for longer than I can remember. And every year we come up with something new to try. Last year it was cash or hatch (like Deal or No Deal with an Easter twist) and bunny tracks, the year before that was a picture egg hunt.
We don’t just do normal indoor Easter egg hunts, we go all out. And this hungry hungry bunnies game may be my favorite game we’ve played in a long time.
It’s simple to setup, simple to play, and fun for all ages. We played with the kiddos all the way to the grandparents and everyone had a great time.
Supplies
You don’t need much to play this hungry hungry bunnies game, which is why it’s a great option for most Easter celebrations!

Supply notes
- Plastic Easter eggs – you can either fill them with prizes or leave them empty. You’ll want at least 25 eggs per person playing. If you want to associate prizes with colors, the colors matter. If not, whatever you want to use is great. This set comes with 300 different colored eggs AND gold eggs.
- One gold egg – this is optional but a fun add-on if you want to have one gold egg and anyone who gets that wins a bonus prize!
- Blindfolds – you’ll need one per person playing. I have a pack of these that works great for all my blindfolded games (and we play a lot of them!)
- Large spoons – I just grabbed a bunch from my kitchen, just make sure they’re all spoons (so not some spoons and some spatulas). Just make sure they’re solid (not the breakable plastic ones) or they’ll likely break when people get competitive.
- Easter baskets – any size works, players will just need something to put their eggs in. If you don’t have Easter baskets, you can grab cheap ones in bulk here. I typically keep them on hand for anyone who comes to an Easter egg hunt at my house and forgets their basket!
- Pool noodles – these will be used to put around the edges of the table to contain all the eggs! I normally grab this bulk pack because it’s the cheapest way to get them!
- Painter’s tape – I used this to tape the pool noodles to the sides of my table. You can use whatever you want but painter’s tape is the safest for your table if it has paint on it!
- Prizes – you can play this for prizes or not, but I always like prizes. I’ve included how we setup our prizes in the prize section at the bottom of this post!
How to Setup the Game
There are really only three things you need to do to setup this game. It should only take you a few minutes and then you’re ready to play!
- Tape the pool noodles down around the edges of the table down so they are secure and will block the eggs from falling off the edges.
- Fill the eggs with any prizes you’ll be using (if any). These are some great Easter egg fillers if you need ideas!
- Place all of the eggs in the center of the table!
That’s really it, once you have your eggs on the table, you’re ready to play!

How to play Hungry Hungry Bunnies
This game is pretty straightforward and really similar if you’ve ever played Hungry Hungry Hippos.
- Give everyone a basket and a spoon and assign to them a section of the table. If you have a rectangle table, I recommend all four players on the two sides rather than the ends so no one is at a disadvantage.
- Blindfold all of the players then mix up where the eggs are on the table (if you’re doing a gold egg or prizes in specific colored eggs).
- Set a timer for 30 seconds and say go.
- Everyone has 30 seconds to use the spoon to pick up as many eggs as possible and put them into their Easter basket.

The Fine Print
Everyone has to hold their Easter basket upright throughout the game, they can’t lean it over and just shovel eggs into it.
Only eggs that make it into the basket before the time is up count.
They can only use the spoon to scoop up Easter eggs, no using their hand or any other body part.
Tip for playing with little kids
If you’re playing this with younger kids who may not be able to scoop any eggs while blindfolded, just let them play without the blindfolds. It’s still a blast and the kids loved it when we did this with our littles!

How to Win Hungry Hungry Bunnies
There are a couple of different ways to handle the “winner” for this game. Here are the options we came up with, and you can always come up with others as well!
1 – The most eggs wins
If you want this to be a traditional Easter game where there’s just a winner of the game, then the person with the most eggs in their basket wins.
If you have a bunch of people to play, you could play it in rounds and whoever gets the most wins the round, then have the winners of the rounds play each other for one grand champion. Have a prize for each round winner and the grand champion.

2 – Most Points Wins
This is a blindfolded game but if you want to make it a bit more complicated than just the most eggs wins so there’s an element of luck to it, you can do most points wins.
Designate a point value to each color of egg. For example, the gold egg = 10 points, blue eggs = 5 points, green eggs = 3 points, and so on. If you do this, I recommend decreasing the numbers of eggs you have of a particular color as its value goes up. So if you blue eggs are worth five points and green eggs are worth three points, have less blue eggs than green eggs out there for eating.
3 – Everyone Wins What They Collect
If you want to fill the eggs, you can have everyone win whatever eggs and the prizes inside that they collect. Everyone’s a winner in this version, they just win what they scoop.
If you’re doing this version and need to do multiple rounds, have another set of eggs ready and already filled to add to the second and third round to replace the ones that people found already.
Or you could also just make each color or type of egg a specific prize, or something they choose out of a prize bucket for that particular color if you don’t want to have to fill so many eggs!
Add a gold egg!
No matter which of the versions above you decide to play, I always think it’s fun to add in a gold egg and if anyone scoops up that gold egg, they win a bonus prize of some sort!

Alternative Hungry Hungry Bunnies Game
If you want to play with more people and play in pairs, try this egg toss variation instead.
You’ll still setup the game the same way with the pool noodles around the table but this time instead of putting all the eggs in the middle, put all the eggs at one end of the table.
- Split into teams of two and you can have either two teams or three teams play at once depending on the size of your table.
- Blindfold one teammate from each and put them on the end of the table with the eggs. Give them a spoon.
- Have the other teammate from each team go to the end of the table with their Easter basket.
- When you say go, the blindfolded player has to scoop up eggs and toss them to their partner who has to catch them in their baskets.
- Give the teams 30 seconds and whichever team catches the most eggs wins. This one is even more chaotic and a fun option to play instead of the one above or as a second game to play while the table is all setup!
