Hershey’s Chocolate Pie
I love a good pumpkin pie but sometimes you just need to change things up.
So mix up your Thanksgiving pies this year by adding this Hershey’s pie to your dessert table along with the traditional pumpkin slab pie! Everyone will appreciate this deliciously creamy chocolate pie as an alternative to all the fruity ones!
We tried out five different variations of this Hershey’s pie and out of the five we tried, this was easily the best. The others used a few less ingredients (even a 3-ingredient option) but we loved the depth of flavor when you combine the Hershey’s bars with marshmallows and whipped cream (compared to just melted chocolate bars) and hope you do too!
Why you’ll love this Hershey’s Pie
- Rich chocolate flavor – the melted chocolate gives it a pure chocolate taste.
- Make ahead – save time and make this the night before.
- Easy – I love recipes that taste amazing without fancy equipment or hours spent making them. This Hershey’s pie recipe is delicious but can be made by just about anyone.

Ingredient Notes
- Hershey’s almond candy bar – you can sub out the almond for regular if you don’t like nuts. The flavor won’t be quite the same, but it’s an easy swap if you need or want this nut-free. Other brands work too, as long as you keep the amount the same.
- Marshmallows – full-sized, not miniature ones. If you only have miniature ones, it’ll be four ounces.
- Heavy whipping cream – you’re going to whip this to make an unsweetened homemade whipped cream so you can’t substitute this with something else!
- Milk – I always recommend whole milk for recipes like this!
- Graham cracker crust – I like the convenience of a store-bought crust but you can easily make your crust as well!
How to make Hershey’s Pie
Now that you know what you need to make this mouth-watering Hershey’s cream pie, it’s instruction time. These are really easy steps that require basic materials and a few minutes of your time.
1 – Make Hershey’s Chocolate Mixture
Combine Hershey’s bars, milk, and marshmallows in a pot on the stove over low heat. Heat until everything is melted together then remove from heat and allow mixture to cool completely so it doesn’t melt the cream when you mix them together!
This step will take the longest and can be done ahead of time but make sure to not actually chill the chocolate so much that the chocolate solidifies again. You want it to cool to room temperature but not chill and solidify.
Solid chocolate won’t mix well with the whipping cream!
2 – Finish Pie Filling
Whip the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form either in a stand mixer or in a large mixing bowl with a hand mixer. This typically takes a few minutes so be patient.
Once your whipped cream is done, fold the cream into the cooled chocolate mixture until well combined. You want this to be one smooth mixture, not two mixtures sort of swirled together.
3 – Fill and Chill
Pour the chocolate filling on top of graham cracker crust. Cover the Hershey’s chocolate cream pie and place in the fridge for at least four hours, overnight is best.
4 – Garnish and Serve
Once the pie is chilled, garnish with more homemade whipped cream, chopped almonds, and chopped Hershey bar pieces.
Slice with a sharp knife and serve chilled. If you’re not going to serve it right away, I recommend keeping it in the fridge because it’s best served chilled!
Expert Tips & Storage Information
Start with a cold bowl so that the whipping cream will form peaks quicker.
Make chocolate mixture ahead of time and allow to cool completely before using. Warm chocolate will melt the cream when mixed together.
Make it nut-free by using regular chocolate bars and omitting the almonds on top.
The recipe calls for four ounces of marshmallows, these can be miniature or full sized.
Store covered in the fridge for a week.
Recipe FAQs
What do stiff peaks look like?
When you turn off your mixer and turn the whisk attachment over, the cream should stand upright and barely form a curl at the top. It’ll resemble the Cool Whip, but without all the added sugar.
Can I make this ahead of time?
Yes! This Hershey’s pie is great to make the night before or even two days before. Don’t garnish the pie with whipped cream and almonds until you are ready to serve.
