I have received free product and compensation for this post, but all opinions and ideas are 100% honest and my own!
I used to love road trips. When I was in college, I went on more road trips than I can count. California, Idaho, Utah, Vegas, you name it, and we drove there. Now my opinion of road trips have changed. Road trips with a 1-year old just aren’t the same. So I came up with the idea to create a road trip bucket that I can keep in the car with all of the things to keep kids entertained on road trips. And to make sure that I’m a good guest since we love to road trip to stay with our friends and family.
I’ve included things in our road trip bucket that would work for kids of all ages, not just K, and tried to keep the ideas fairly general so you can make one of your own.
Here are the three main categories of items that I recommend you include in your own road trip box.
You can put some non-perishable items like granola bars, crackers, and jerky in the box to stay in the car and then just add some fresh items like string cheese, fruit, and sandwiches the morning of the trip. Don’t forget the juice boxes and water as well!
This is where you can get creative and fill up the box with the things that your kids will like the most. I’ve included movies (and our portable DVD player), books, and coloring supplies. And my favorite part, these awesome road trip activity pads from Laura Kelly Designs that you can purchase on the Expressionery website. Full pads of auto bingo, license tag hunt, and tic tac toe all with cute designs! Aren’t these fantastic? I can’t wait until K is old enough to be able to actually use these.
Thank You Cards
I mentioned it before but most of our road trips consist of going to visit and stay with friends and family so one of the things that I always try to keep with me are thank you cards so I can leave a note when we leave thanking them for their hospitality. I designed a set of stationary using the Me and My Peeps from Expressionery to personalize the thank you cards for my family.
It was so fun picking out our family “peeps” on the website. They have a ton of different peeps that you can choose from, and I thought the peeps matched our family perfectly. I ordered these cute Me & My Peeps Folded Note Cards, envelopes, Alien Invasion Folded Note cards personalized for K, and mailing addresses. I absolutely love Laura Kelly’s Designs; they’re all just so fun and whimsical.
