67 Gift Exchange Game

This 67 gift exchange game is a new version of gift exchange game that combines dice rolling, moving quickly, and a whole lot of fun. It’s way more fun than trying to figure out what 67 means!

Dictionary.com defined the word of 2025 as 67. If you have kids or are ever around kids, you probably saw that one coming. I am a leader for teen girls for church and have two boys of my own, so we’re very familiar with 67 around here.

Since we love coming up with creative gift exchange games (really just Christmas party games in general) and gift exchange themes, you know I had to create one just to go with the 67 craze.

Kids and teens will love this one, but even the adults thought this one was really fun, so yes, you can play it whether or not 67 is a common phrase in your house. You could even call it something different if you really wanted to, although I do think a 67 gift exchange has a nice ring to it.

The game is kind of a combination of our dice gift exchange and our Never Have I ever gift exchange, with a special 67 twist added. After you read through the instructions, I encourage you to watch the video in this post as well so you can see how it works. It really is pretty simple and pretty fun, not that I’m biased or anything!

Gift Exchange Supplies

You don’t need much to do this gift exchange. All you’ll need are:

  • Dice key printout – you can get this free at the bottom of this post (look for the pink “get the files” box). I recommend printing this either out large so everyone can see or printing out a couple so you can have them around the circle.
  • A pair of dice – I personally LOVE using large dice like these ones so everyone can see what’s rolled, especially for this game (but also for other dice games). But you can use regular size ones if that’s all you have.

In addition to the dice and the printout, you’ll also need one UNWRAPPED gift per person (you’ll see why in a second).

In keeping with the spirit of the game, I highly recommend having everyone bring a $6-$7 gift to exchange so it’s full of things other people like (not just you). Or if you just want to provide all the gifts, go for it. I’ve included a list of fun $6-7 gifts below to choose from!

  • Card games – there are SO many card games out there that fall into this price range including some of our favorites like Flip 7, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, and Uno Flip.
  • Beauty Products – could do anything from a cooling eye mask to lip gloss, or even something more universal like a scalp massager.
  • Hobby Supplies – things like these rainbow colored pencils, a teen cookbook, a bead set, or a journal designed to be destroyed!
  • Typical Stocking Stuffers – think small things like this trending phone stand, these worry stone fidgets, or this Life Skills for Teens book.
  • Toys – get a small set of LEGOs like this one, or something more practical like these LED gloves they can play with!

Note!

You’ll have some say in what gift you get in this game, so I personally think it’s fine to have things that are more gender specific as prizes, so I’ve included those categories above. But if you want, you could also just stick with all gender neutral/universal type prizes! I’ve included a picture of a bunch of our prizes below for examples.

How to play the 67 gift exchange

Okay so this is super easy to play. To start, have everyone stand in a circle and place their gift on the floor in front of them. Then hand the pair of dice to someone and deem that you’re starting spot.

That’s all you have to do to setup the game – now you’re ready to play!

The first person in the circle rolls the dice and what happens is based on what they get:

  • Roll doubles – everyone in the circle moves to the right, gifts and dice stay where they are (always)
  • Roll a 6 OR a 7 – everyone in the circle immediately switches spots with someone else in the circle, again gifts and the dice stay. If you have a large group of 12+ people, I recommend telling everyone they have to switch to a gift that is not on either side of them. The only exception to this is if a 7 is rolled immediately after a 6, then everyone stays and you follow the rule below instead.
  • Roll a 6 THEN a 7 – if a 7 is rolled immediately after a 6, you have a 67 roll. The person who rolled the 6 AND the person who rolled the 7 get to immediately choose the gift they want from the circle and leave the game with their gift.
  • Roll anything else – pass the dice to the next person in the circle, nothing happens.

After the first dice roll, pass the dice clockwise to the next person who then rolls. Keep moving the dice around the circle having each spot (note I said SPOT not person) roll once until you get back around to where the dice started. This is one full round of the game.

How the Game Ends

Play three full rounds (dice going around the circle = one round) and at the end of the three rounds, whatever gift is in the spot you end up at is the gift you go home with.

Helpful Game Play Tips

  • Rolling a 67 together doesn’t happen frequently, but it does happen. When we played this game out as a family, two different sets of people rolled a 67 out of our 12 players. It may or may not happen during your game, but when it does, it’s awesome and a really fun addition to the game!
  • Because people are constantly moving and the dice stay, it’s very possible that someone may not ever roll the dice or may lose their turn to roll because they had to switch spots (and the dice ended up ahead of them). If they really want to roll the dice, they can strategically choose a spot that allows them to roll – but I don’t recommend mentioning this.
  • The dice and gifts ALWAYS stay where they are at regardless of what is rolled. Keep track of what spot rolled rather than who rolled to keep the dice moving correctly.
  • Flag where the dice started the game because you’ll need this to know when the game ends and if you don’t track it, I guarantee you’ll forget.
  • Feel free to let people trade if they want to once the game is over but there’s enough movement that most of the time, people get at least some choice in what they leave with!

Tip!

I’m calling this a gift exchange, but if you provide all the gifts it could make one of the most fun birthday party games too! Instead of giving out party favors, you could just make these their party favors!

More Gift Exchange Games

If you want some other gift exchange games to go along with this one, here are some others that kids and teens will enjoy!

  • Grinch gift exchange – a left right gift game using the Grinch book!
  • Musical gifts – everyone ends up with a prize in this musical game!
  • Dice gift exchange – this one is best for teens and older because stealing is involved, but it’s one of our most popular games!
  • Christmas never have I ever – a classic game with a gift exchange twist!
  • Rock paper switch – another one that uses a classic game that kids and teens will love, although it does include stealing gifts so watch out!
