This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of 3M. All opinions are 100% mine.

Impress all of your friends with your gift wrapping this year just by incorporating these cute DIY gift tags made just with a little Scotch Expressions washi tape!

These Christmas gift tags are one of the easiest DIY crafts and they can go with any kind of wrapping paper! Even if you don’t have the best gift ideas, DIY your gift tags to turn not so great Christmas ideas into awesome gifts! Or if you don’t want to put them on gifts, wrap up a plate of cookies or cupcakes and add one of these tags. The Rudolph one is my favorite.

I am not one of those people who can wrap a gift and make it look amazing. I did volunteer for a gift wrapping booth when I was in high school for one of the million clubs I was a part of but other than a few tricks to getting the corners perfect, I didn’t learn much at all. Honestly most of the time I end up wrapping everything last minute and go as quickly as I can, just making sure the entire package is covered.

I know, it’s a little pathetic.

I decided this year is going to be different, so I decided to up my game with some cute DIY gift tags that I created using Scotch® Expressions washi tape.

The Scotch® Expressions washi tape is perfect for creating your own gift tags because it comes in a ton of different colors and designs, both holiday and non-holiday for those of you who prefer something other than the traditional red. Unlike some of the cheaper washi tape I’ve bought, the Scotch Expressions washi tape sticks incredibly well and the glitter doesn’t come off! It’s glitter without all of the mess of glitter!

I’ve included instructions for a handful of the different gift tags that I made below but don’t stop there. Buy whatever designs you prefer and get creative with different combinations of colors, textures, and shines. You could also do things like an angel, a nativity, words, or even mini washi tape snowflakes!

I highly recommend the Expressions Multi Roll Dispenser; it makes it so much easier to use the Expressions tape when you’re using a variety of colors and styles like I did for these tags!

DIY Snowman Gift Tag

Supplies:

  • White gift tag
  • Blue Scotch® Expressions glitter washi tape
  • Red Scotch® Expression metallic washi tape
  • Black Scotch® Expressions glitter washi tape
  • Gold Scotch® Expressios metallic washi tape or orange Scotch® Expressions washi tape

Instructions:

  1. Cut two strips of blue tape that are the same size and just a little less wide than your gift tag, cut three more strips of blue tape that are a little less wide than the first two strips.
  2. Tape on to your gift tag with the two longer strips at the bottom and stacking the three shorter strips on top.
  3. Cut a top hat out, mouth, eyes, and arms out of black glitter washi tape. For the arms, I cut one piece of washi tape in half and then just cut three slits for fingers at the end of each piece of tape.
  4. Cut one piece of red washi tape in half. Put half of it on the snowman’s neck and then the other half on the right end of the first piece, hanging down like a scarf.
  5. Cut a small triangle out of the gold or orange washi tape for a nose.

Supplies:

  • Green Scotch® Expressions glitter washi tape
  • Gold Scotch® Expressions metallic washi tape

Instructions:

  1. Cut five pieces of green glitter washi tape, each one a little shorter than the other.
  2. Tape them to the gift card starting with the longest piece of tape on the bottom and moving up to the shortest piece at the top.
  3. Cut a star out of the gold metallic tape and place at the top of the tree.

Supplies:

  • White gift tag
  • Two patterned Scotch® Expressions washi tapes
  • One solid Scotch® Expressions glitter washi tape that coordinates with the two patterned tapes

Instructions:

  1. Cut four pieces of patterned washi tape, two pieces of each of the two patterned tapes, cutting all four pieces to the same size.
  2. Tape the four pieces on your gift card, alternating patterns horizontally like you are creating a layer cake.
  3. Cut four pieces of equal length solid glitter washi tape.
  4. Tape three of the pieces on top of the present sticking up at angles like 11:00, 12:00, and 1:00 on a clock.
  5. Cut the other piece in half and tape one of the halves at 10:00 and one at 2:00 to finish off the gift bow.

Reindeer Gift Tag

Supplies:

  • Brown gift tags
  • Red Scotch® Expressions metallic washi tape
  • Black Scotch® Expressions glitter washi tape

Instructions:

  1. Cover the very bottom of the gift tag with the red washi tape for Rudolph’s shining nose.
  2. Cut either round or square eyes out of the black washi tape and tape onto the tag where eyes would go on a reindeer’s face.

Dress up a basic gift package with Scotch® Expressions glitter tape instead of ribbon then tape one of your new gift tags on with the Scotch® Brand double-sided permanent tape for the perfect holiday gift wrapping.

When it comes to me wrapping presents it looks like it was opened and re-taped. lol. I am just horrible, but I think I can do this one. All of the tags came out so beautiful and shinny. I love this idea!

This is huge to have on hand when you need a gift tag for any time of the year. I had not heard of Scotch® Expressions washi tape and I so like going to Staples. I’ll be picking up some with the little tags. I really like your idea and step by step – thank you

I really want to try and make a few of these super cute gift tags with Scotch Expressions tape. It’s always fun to receive a package that someone has put some thought into it’s presentation. I think these gift tags might be a good project for children as well.

I would be a tape fool with all of these lol. I can imagine my daughter and I taping the town and all the gifts too putting our own special touch on it.

Gift wrapping is not for me. Haha. I easily get tired of putting the wrapper nicely around the gift item, so I just buy a ready-made gift bag and affix a gift tag. Creating personalized gift tags is easier though it also takes up time for me to get creative. 🙂

These gift tags are super cute!! I love how easy it is to make things so much more festive during the holidays. I am awful at wrapping gifts so these would be perfect to tie on to a gift bag to make it more personal.

Your DIY gift tags are absolutely adorable! This looks like much more fun then buying tags.
This would be great for pre-readers too! You could even make a few of each one and have one tucked into the kids stocking and they have to find the gifts matching their tags.

Move over cupcakes, there’s a new food in town. These cookie smores are one of my favorite easy desserts ever. Chocolate chip cookies combined with your favorite smores dessert ingredients makes for one of those desserts that people will remember. Such a fun idea for a fall or winter party!
