Valentine's Day Jeopardy powerpoint boards

This fun Valentine’s Jeopardy game is great for playing with your friends for an upcoming Valentine’s Day party! There are over 60 different questions that all have some sort of Valentine’s Day or love theme!

Valentine's Day Jeopardy board made with hearts and a poster board

After our Christmas Jeopardy game exploded during the holidays, I knew I had to create a Valentine’s Day Jeopardy game for all those people hosting Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day parties!

This Valetine’s Day Jeopardy game is played just like the actual game show but everything has a Valentine’s Day theme. I’ll explain exactly how to play in case you haven’t played any of our Jeopardy games already!

I’ve included a printable version of the game in this post but if you want something more digital, I’ve already created PowerPoint templates for this Valentine’s Day game where everything is down and ready to download! It’s the easiest way to play but maybe not the cutest!

How to Play Valentine’s Day Jeopardy

Depending on the group you’re playing with, there are a couple of different ways you could these Valentine’s Day Jeopardy questions and answers – individual, small groups, or large teams!

1 – Divide into teams

Start by figuring out your group size and the logistics of how to play with your group. I’ve included my suggestions below based on the number of people you’re playing with but you know your group best so do what works for you!

  1. Small group (up to 5 people) – have everyone play on their own just like in the actual game show. This works best in groups of five or less.
  2. Medium group (6-20 people) – split into teams have the teams work together to answer the questions and play. Stick to five teams or less and keep the teams to 2-3 players each.
  3. Large group (21+ people) – have everyone play individually and just hand out small prizes for answering individual questions. Or just have people keep track of their points and the person with the most points at the end wins but know this is the more complicated route!

Once you’ve split up your teams, give each team a buzzer. For teams, have the players on each team rotate who is by the buzzer every question or every few questions so everyone gets a chance.Or just have the buzzer available to the entire team and anyone can buzz in for the team, with the risk that someone might buzz in that doesn’t know the answer!

I love these buzzers because they make different sounds so it’s easy to hear which one buzzed in first, which is trickier than you think!

Note!

If you’re hosting and the one asking the questions, have another person who can help you determine the order of the buzzers since you’ll likely be focused on asking the question, kind of like if you’re playing our floor game! They can also keep score for you!

2 – Start the Game

The game starts with the host reading the $200 question in the first column of the board, in this case it would be “LOVE” Songs for $200.

Once the question has been read, the first team to hit their buzzer has five seconds to answer the question. The answers are in the form of a question (e.g., Who is Brad Pitt?), but you can decide how much of a stickler you want to be on this with people actually giving their answers. I’ve found this can be hard for the younger crew!

  • If the player answers correctly – they win the points for that question AND they gain control of the board meaning they get to choose the next question.
  • If the player answers incorrectly – they lose the points of the question (you can go negative) and the other teams can then buzz in to try and answer. Or you can skip losing points and just have all points be positive ones.

If any team doesn’t buzz in within five seconds of the question being read, you can just tell them the answer to the question (or delay a little if someone seems close) and the person who was previously in control of the board chooses another question.

3 – Choose the Next Question

Whoever answers the question correctly wins control of the board, which means that they choose the next question category and the value, which can be super beneficial if you are really good at one particular category.

So for example, they might choose Also a Team of Endearment for $400 as their question. Remove that question from the board once it’s asked so that people know which questions have not yet been answered. That’s why I love the post-it note Jeopardy board I’m sharing in this post, it allows people to see quickly what’s left on the board to choose from.

Read the question that corresponds with the value and category they chose and again whoever buzzes in first and answers correctly wins those points.

Keep going until you’ve gotten through all of the questions in the initial Jeopardy round then setup the board and play Double Jeopardy in the exact same way, except the values are doubled!

How do Daily Doubles Work?

There are daily doubles noted in the questions and answers set if you’d like to use them in your game.

If you do use them, this is what happens when someone chooses a Daily Double:

  1. Before reading the question, announce that it is a daily double.
  2. Only the contestant who chose the question wagers how much they want the question to be worth, they can wager what they have in the bank.
  3. Ask just that contestant the question and if they answer it correctly, they win the points – if they don’t, they lose the points from their score.

how does Final Jeopardy work?

The last part of a game of Jeopardy is called Final Jeopardy and it’s one single question. While I have included this in my game sets, it’s totally optional if you want to do it not. It’s better for small or medium groups!

  1. Read the Final Jeopardy category to the group.
  2. Have everyone write down how much they wager on the question (can wager as much as they have in the bank).
  3. Read the question and give everyone one minute to write down their answer. (Play Jeopardy music for a fun addition to the game)
  4. Go through answers one by one and anyone who answered correctly wins what they wagered, anyone who doesn’t loses what they wagered.

Who wins?

The winner of this Valentine’s Day Jeopardy game is the person at the end of all three rounds with the highest number of money earned. Or if you’re playing with teams, use the team’s score instead and the team with the highest total points wins!

Don’t forget to give the winning player or team a prize even it’s just a bag of chocolates or something small. It’s always more fun to play for prizes!

Note!

Jeopardy is typically played in three rounds – Jeopardy, Double Jeopardy (question values are doubled), and Final Jeopardy. You can choose to play one, two, or all of these rounds depending on the amount of time you have, your players, and your situation. You can also set a time limit for each board if you want to do all the categories but don’t have time for all the questions!

How to Make A Jeopardy Board

There are so many different ways you can create a Valentine’s Day Jeopardy board. I’ve included an example board that we made using a poster board, wood hearts, and sticker letters from a craft store.

I’ve also included a picture of another Jeopardy board I created in the past that is made using post-it notes along with instructions to make that. The printable download includes the post-notes print outs for the Valentine’s Day questions if you want to go that route – it’s probably my favorite but maybe not quite as cute as the crafty edition.

Or you can go completely digital and use our PowerPoint templates that include everything already setup in a PowerPoint template – regular Jeopardy, double Jeopardy, and even final Jeopardy. It’s literally just a matter of clicking the questions on the board and asking the questions!

How to make a Post-It Note Jeopardy board

The images and instructions below show a different Jeopardy board but it’s the same exact concept for this Valentine’s Day game. The download includes everything you need to print out your own Valentine’s day post-it note board!

  1. Start by printing out a copy of the blank Jeopardy printouts sheet (the one that says Jeopardy Board Printout at the top). You can print as many as you want or just one and use that one over and over again (like I did).
  2. Add standard 3×3 post-it notes to the boxes, sticky side down. You can use whatever color post-it notes you want. I used Friendsgiving colors for my board, but you can use whatever color you want.
  3. Put that paper back into your printer, making sure to load it correctly so that the post-it notes will be printed on (there should be an icon in your print tray). And make sure your post-it notes are all pressed down firmly so they don’t get caught in the printer.
  4. Print the first sheet of values and they’ll print right on top of the post-it notes. Repeat for the rest of the value sheets and the Friendsgiving category cards.
  5. Hang all of those post-it notes either up on the wall, a chalk board, or do what I did and add them to a foam board!

You can absolutely add a heading of some sort to the top of the board as well or just leave the categories and values if you’re lazy. I love the post-it note version because you can just take the values off as you use them.

And those post-it notes are totally reusable for different holidays – just switch out the category post-its!

Valentine’s Day Jeopardy FAQs

Do you have a PowerPoint version of the game?

I created PowerPoint versions of this game that you can get in my shop. All you have to do is download and play! Note, you do have to have PowerPoint to use the templates!

Can Jeopardy end in a tie?

Jeopardy can’t end in a tie. If there’s a tie, use one of the questions from the other Jeopardy game set (I recommend a $1000 or $2000 one) and whoever buzzes in first out of the people tied wins.

Can you play Jeopardy without buzzers?

I highly recommend the buzzers just to make it as easy as possible for you to see who buzzed in first but some other options would be to have an item that people have to grab (like I do in these party games for adults), just make sure it’s something soft like a stuffed animal or pair of socks!

What are categories for Valentine’s Day Jeopardy?

The Valentine’s Day categories used in this game include all sorts of varying categories that Valentine’s Day or loved themed in some way. Examples include things like Love Spells, Rom-Coms by Actors, and Hugs and Kisses.

Valentine’s Day Jeopardy Questions and Answers

I’ve created a set of Valentine’s Day Jeopardy questions and answers that include six regular Jeopardy categories and questions, six Double Jeopardy categories and answers, and a Final Jeopardy category and question for a total of 61 question options!

I’m not going to list all the questions and answers here, you can download those at the bottom of this post, but here are a couple of questions and answers to give you an idea. Everything in the game is designed to be teen-friendly (though probably too difficult for younger kids) and up.

  1. Terms of Endearment for 400 – An animated movie pig raised by sheepdogs on a farm. (What is Babe?)
  2. Symbols of Love for 800 – Often attached to a bridge as a symbol of lasting love of two people. (What is a lock?)
  3. Love Spells for 600 – He accidentally got dosed with a love potion in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince when he ate spiked chocolate cauldrons intended for Harry Potter. (Who is Ron Weasley?)
  4. Words in Valentine for 1200 – E.T. was one (What is an alien?)
  5. Rom-Coms by Stars for 1600 – Ryan Gosling, Steve Carrell, Emma Stone, and Julianne Moore (What is Crazy Stupid Love?)
