I’m so excited to share this fun star table runner that I made for my Oscar party using the new Duck Brand® glitter tape. It’s the perfect way to tie my star themed Oscar party all together. And best of all, it is so simple to make. Not throwing an Oscar party? This would also be perfect for a movie night or movie party as well. Once you’ve read this tutorial, make sure to check out my other Oscar party ideas as well.
I’ve just recently started using Duck Brand® Craft Tapes and am seriously amazed by all of the awesome designs, colors, and patterns they have. Just looking at the tape inspired me to get crafty and creative. I used the glitter in this particular project but I am really excited to also try out their Washi, Prism, and Fabric Tapes as well. While I was buying supplies for this table runner, I actually spied some Mickey Mouse Duck Brand® Tape. I immediately picked up a number of rolls for my Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party next week, the possibilities for ways to use it are endless. Okay enough about my obsession with Duck Brand® Tape, let’s get on to the project.
Make Your Own Star Table Runner
- Duck Brand Craft Tapes – I used silver glitter, red, and gold
- Large and small paper, cardstock, or cardboard stars
- Red fabric cut to the length of your table
Step 1: Cover your stars with strips of the Duck Brand® tape going from the top to the bottom. I used silver glitter, gold, and red to match my Oscar party theme. I absolutely love the Duck Brand® glitter tape because you get the glitter effect without glitter all over the place. Richie hates it when I have a party and use glitter because somehow it always ends up in our dinner or laundry. The Duck Brand® Glitter Tape is the perfect win-win solution for both of us.
Step 2: Turn over the star that has been covered with tape and cut around the edges of the star so you have nice crisp lines.
Step 3: Repeat with your other colors of Duck Brand® tape.
Step 4: Continue covering and cutting stars until you have enough stars to cover the length of your table in whatever pattern you choose.
Step 5: Glue the small stars in the center of the larger stars. The layers add a nice texture and depth to the table runner.
Step 6: Lay your stars out on the red fabric. You can use the same pattern I did or get creative with your pattern. Once you’ve decided on your pattern, glue the stars to the fabric.
Add some fun star dishes, confetti, and movie props to round out your beautiful Oscar party table.
